In the course of the seminar we visited Andreas Züst library in the Swiss Alps. Using handheld scanners, we collected material from his book collection and developed our concepts. I found myself in the small section of Japanese books, scanning the pictures with shaking hands, which resulted in the distortion of faces and images. Immediately the Hiroshima bombing came to mind. Further research revealed first-person testimonials from survivors of the bombings which I then utilized to convey their feelings of shock, devastation and disturbance and to show the process of trauma.
